Consenting Adults stamp by jessiesheram Consenting Adults stamp by jessiesheram
I'd just like to start by saying that I'm totally in favour of mature filters, child-locks and content guidelines. What I'm not in favour of is guideless censorship with no accounting for personal preferences and tastes.

I'll aware that not everyone may agree with the kind of content I'd like to see on the internet, and in some cases they may be appalled by what I'd consider to be art. However when there's mature filters and content rules which are being adhered to then they shouldn't be trying to impose their own values and judgements onto others who are mature enough to make the choices for themselves.

If you don't agree with that then this stamp isn't for you. By this I'm not saying that you aren't an adult, just that you're not a consenting one.

I'm wondering what you mean by adult. Are you saying that a 15 year old can be considered an adult?

I think they're referring to people over the age of 18.

People over 18 don't have to worry about censorship. That's where the confusion laid.

To include incest.

What I find pointless is pointless censorship. I'll give you an example, a user having to change the mature artwork to hide anything dirty.

Think about the children!

I mean the children who've either lied about their age so they can see the mature content or whose parents have left their computers unsecured so their kids can go browsing for dirty images.

Then they have the mind of an adult.

It saddens me when stamps make more sense than people...:hmm:
I agree with this stamp.

I agree with the stamp. If you're an adult and you know what you are doing and both parties are consenting then it should be good as long as nothing dangerous or harmful occurs.

And knowing when something's dangerous and harmful is where the 'Adult' part comes in. These days people seem for happier letting the government set the standards so they don't have to take on the responsibility for themselves.

Mmm, the basic rule I go by is that so long as harm is not done, then it's all good... pretty broad and vague I know, but I can explain it pretty well if pressed.

For me even if a little harm is done it's still good, as long as everyone involved knew in advance that a little harm was on the cards. :)

Well that would be a situation where it wouldn't actually be "harm" per se, simply a sensation that is given and recieved in consent that causes no lasting ill.

Consent (and variables that could interfere with it or make the consent suspect) are important factors in determining whether harm is possible.

It gets a little more complicated than that for me, since I believe in the trinity of Body, Mind and Soul. Harm to any one of those is considered in my eyes to be sinful, unless it's given with the full and complete understanding and acceptance by all parties involved.

Well yeah, that's what it comes back to, physical harm isn't the only factor which I consider to be relevant, though I'd argue the soul is just an psychological construct and it's the body and mind we have to worry about harm to, but that's another discussion entirely.

By my definitions Body is the physical, Mind is the intellectual and Soul is the emotional. Hurting someone physically, treating them as if they're stupid or making them feel sad would all be forms of harm.

Well... like I said, I find intellectual and emotional "mind" and "soul" to be two aspects of the same thing, both still relevant but able to be collected under one category, I agree that all three of those examples are valid forms of harm which is what I've been maintaining all along, but I do think the concept of soul is essentially flawed.

If everyone knows what they're getting into, why should anyone else tell them they're wrong?
